Tiohtià:ke-born artist and curator Geoffrey Webster focuses on the circulation of racial identity across contemporary visual and sonic cultures, with a particular focus on music and television. His work looks into how diasporic life is represented and how it is remembered, asking what is amplified versus what is flattened when images and sounds move through popular media.
Working with personal and institutional archives, he also develops projects that foreground diasporic memory and its legacies. He approaches the institutional archive with both care and skepticism, and recognizes it as a site of preservation and omission, shaped by the same structures his general practice examines.
Additionally, Geoffrey recently completed an MA in Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies at Queen’s University, where he further expanded his endeavours to move fluidly between media-based production, critical research, and the development of inclusive curatorial frameworks.
